Chicago rock icons bring concert to The Event Center in November

PITTSBURGH — Sept. 5, 2019 — Multi-platinum band Styx brings its unique sound and chart-topping hits to The Event Center on Friday, Nov. 8, at 8 p.m. Tickets are on sale now and start at $79.

Known for its fused pop rock and soft rock sound featured in hits like “Come Sail Away,” “Renegade” and “Too Much Time On My Hands,” Styx gained breakthrough recognition with the album “Crystal Ball” in 1976. Shortly thereafter, the band became the first group to score four triple-platinum albums in a row: “The Grand Illusion,” “Pieces of Eight,” “Cornerstone” and “Paradise Theater.” With 16 studio albums, Styx continues to tour around the world, playing over 100 live performances each year.

The Chicago band originally formed in the early ’70s and released its first four albums, “Styx,” “Styx II,” “The Serpent Is Rising” and “Man of Miracles,” earning the group’s first of many hits on the Billboard “Hot 100” chart. Styx has undergone changes in band members throughout its flourishing career spanning four decades, while simultaneously reaching international stardom with classic rock hits like “Rockin’ the Paradise,” “Blue Collar Man” and “Lady.”

“We’re excited to have a legendary band like Styx play in The Event Center,” said Shannon Redmond, vice president of marketing at Rivers Casino Pittsburgh. “Guests will be blown away by the high-energy show and performance of the band’s iconic songs.”

After years of releasing notable albums, playing sold-out concerts and establishing separate solo careers, Styx most recently released “The Mission,” its sonically sweet 16th studio album in 2017. The 43-minute album is the band’s most ambitious work to date and explores the concept of the first manned mission to Mars. From “Radio Silence” and “Gone Gone Gone” to “Red Storm” and “Mission to Mars,” Styx has mastered its unique in-harmony sound 45 years after signing its first record deal.
