RIVERS CASINO PITTSBURGH MAKES $3.5 MILLION PAYMENT TO SPORTS & EXHIBITION AUTHORITY FOR PPG PAINTS ARENA

PITTSBURGH — Oct. 1, 2019 — Rivers Casino Pittsburgh and the Sports & Exhibition Authority of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County (SEA) announced today that Rivers Casino has paid another $3.5 million toward the construction expenses for PPG Paints Arena.

Rivers Casino contributes $7.5 million annually to the SEA, with installments occurring in April and October of each year. To date, Rivers Casino has generated $78.5 million to help fund construction expenses for PPG Paints Arena, home of the Pittsburgh Penguins and one of the city’s premier entertainment venues.

By 2038, when the agreement concludes, Rivers Casino will have contributed a total of $225 million to the SEA for the arena’s construction, which was completed in 2010.

“Rivers Casino’s bi-yearly payments to the SEA are one of the many ways the casino shows its support toward our great city,” said Bill Keena, Rivers Casino’s general manager. “We’re happy to support the Pens’ home rink.”

Rivers Casino generates approximately $161 million annually for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Allegheny County and Pittsburgh, including the city’s economic development and tourism fund.

“As always, we thank Rivers Casino Pittsburgh for its continued support and vested interest in the success of the SEA and PPG Paints Arena,” said Mary Conturo, executive director of the Sports & Exhibition Authority.
