JEVS HUMAN SERVICES RECOGNIZES RIVERS CASINO PHILADELPHIA AS CORPORATE VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR
Local organization honors multiyear partnership with Philly’s first casino
PHILADELPHIA — Aug. 4, 2021 — Rivers Casino Philadelphia was recently honored with the Corporate Volunteer of the Year Award from JEVS Human Services, which recognized the casino’s ongoing support and long-standing partnership.
Rivers has made JEVS a beneficiary of many of the casino’s Rivers Gives initiatives, which include providing household products, turkeys during the holiday season, career advancement opportunities and more to thousands of Philadelphians—all while supporting JEVS’ overall mission to continue making hope happen in the local community and beyond.
JEVS Human Services is a local organization that provides a variety of services to nearly 25,000 individuals in the Philadelphia area who have physical, developmental, and emotional challenges, as well as those facing adverse socioeconomic conditions, including unemployment and underemployment, realize their goals, achieve independence, and live their lives with dignity.
The casino’s work with JEVS is a part of its ongoing community relations program, Rivers Gives, where Rivers partners with dozens of local organizations each year and Team Members volunteer hundreds of service hours annually to the Fishtown neighborhood and its surrounding areas.
“It’s not only an honor to receive this recognition, but it’s also such a privilege to work with an amazing organization like JEVS,” said Emily Doñes, community relations manager at Rivers Casino Philadelphia. “We’re proud to support JEVS’ mission and we’re always looking for ways that we can help our local community.”
Rivers has worked with JEVS to provide local community members with various career development opportunities such as job fairs, resume workshops, mentor sessions and mock interviews. Rivers Team Members have also volunteered at and for various events that supports JEVS’ service mission like coat and shoe drives, donating household goods and preparing care packages for expectant mothers, to name a few. The casino has even supported JEVS through Team Member and guest donations as well as event sponsorships.
“We’re grateful for the support the casino has showed us over the years—whether its attending job fairs, volunteering at our events or donating to our organization, we can always count on Rivers Casino Philadelphia,” said Ranee Shipley, volunteer coordinator at JEVS Human Services. “Rivers is a caring philanthropic partner and with the casino’s help, we’re able to provide dignity, heart, and hope throughout our community.”
