The Orchestra Coming to Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady This Fall

 

 

Schenectady, NY (August 30, 2021) – Guests will experience classic hard rockers Great White, Slaughter, and Kip Winger, the funk rock hits of Sly & The Family Stone with The Family Stone, and a night of progressive pop-rock classics with The Orchestra starring former members of the Electric Light Orchestra at the Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady Event Center in October and November.

Saturday, October 30: Rock fans will be pumping their fists, singing along, and breaking out their air guitars when Great White, Slaughter, and Kip Winger all hit the Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady Event center stage on the night before Halloween. Great White, the band behind arena hits “Once Bitten, Twice Shy,” “Rock Me,” “Save Your Love,” and “The Angel Song”, has grittily blended blues and rock since they first burst onto the scene in the early 80’s.  Slaughter struck gold in 1990 when their debut album, Stick It to Ya, went double-platinum and included Billboard Magazine’s Hot 100 hits “Up All Night,” “Fly to the Angels,” and “Spend My Life”. Kip Winger first gained notice as a member of Alice Cooper’s band in the mid-80’s and went on to lead the band, Winger, which produced the hard rock hits “Seventeen,” “Headed for a Heartbreak,” and “Can’t Get Enuff”. Friday, November 5: Fans will be dancin’ to the music at the Rivers Event Center when The Family Stone break out the chart-topping hits of psychedelic soul legends, Sly & The Family Stone. Fronting the band are Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee and original founding member of Sly & The Family Stone, Jerry Martini, on sax, along with Phunne Stone on vocals, the multi-talented daughter of Sly Stone and the late great Cynthia Robinson. These funksters are joined by the powerful voice of Swang Stewart on vocals, along with the some of the funkiest players of all time including Nate Wingfield on guitar, Jimmy McKinney on keys, Frank Klepacki on drums, and Blaise Sison on bass. Fans can expect to hear all the 60’s and 70’s classics including “I Want to Take You Higher,” “Everyday People,” “Thank You Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin,” “Dance To The Music,” “Hot Fun In The Summertime,” “Family Affair,” “Sing a Simple Song,” and many other instantly recognizable tunes. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the fun starts at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $20 plus taxes and fees.

 

Saturday, November 6: Symphonic rock fans will be treated to an unforgettable evening when The Orchestra takes the stage to perform The Electric Light Orchestra’s (ELO) deep catalog of classic rock hits. The Orchestra, starring former members of the Electric Light Orchestra, features an incredible lineup of musicians including ELO’s original violin player Mik Kaminski, co-lead vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Eric Troyer, Parthenon Huxley on vocals and guitar, Glen Burtnik on vocals and bass, multi-instrumentalist Louis Clark, and Gordon Townsend on drums. The Orchestra will thrill the crowd with the original ELO’s most memorable songs including “Strange Magic,” “Do Ya,” “Don’t Bring Me Down,” “Evil Woman,” “Livin’ Thing,” “Turn to Stone,” “Sweet Talkin’ Woman,” “Telephone Line,” “Mr. Blue Sky,” and more. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show begins at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $35 plus taxes and fees.
