SOUTHSIDE JOHNNY AND THE ASBURY JUKES TO PERFORM AT RIVERS CASINO PHILADELPHIA

Band with Jersey Shore sound ready to rock The Event Center

PHILADELPHIA — June 13, 2022 — Rhythm and blues are rolling into Philadelphia when Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes bring their signature Jersey Shore sound to The Event Center at Rivers Casino Philadelphia on Saturday, Sept. 24, at 8 p.m. Tickets go on sale Friday, June 17, at 10 a.m. and start at $19.

Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes emerged from the New Jersey Shore scene in 1974, and though they carried over a significant influence from Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, the Jukes evolved to become a white R&B horn band in the Memphis Stax Records tradition. The group was organized by singer John Lyon, guitarist and songwriter Steve Van Zandt, and Richie Rosenberg. The band is popularly known for its high-energy shows and hits, including “I Don’t Wanna Go Home,” “Havin’ a Party,” “Talk to Me” and “This Time It’s for Real.”

“We’re thrilled to host the legendary Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes in our Event Center,” said Justin Moore, general manager of Rivers Casino Philadelphia. “This acclaimed local band from the tri-state area will have the crowd dancing and singing along to their recognizable hits.”

In an industry where success can be measured by getting a second single, surviving for 30-plus years is a rare accomplishment. Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes have survived and flourished, releasing more than 30 albums and several extended play records and a box set, giving thousands of live performances worldwide, and having a release named by Rolling Stone as one of the “top 100 albums of the ’70s and ’80s.” With the driving sound of the legendary Jukes horn section, Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes continue to expand their signature Jersey Shore sound for audiences everywhere.

Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes are part of the upcoming entertainment at Rivers Casino, which is scheduled as follows:

  • 6/17: The Stylistics
  • 6/25: Rodney Carrington
  • 7/2: DJ Jazzy Jeff
