The United Service Organization of Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey, Liberty USO, will host the Christmas in July Send-off Event in culmination of the Christmas in July program. The Send-off Event will include the assembly of Philly Fun boxes contributed by SugarHouse Casino, which features items such as Tastykakes, mini pretzels, SugarHouse blankets and Frisbees.

In addition, a special ceremony will take place after the care packages are assembled, with speakers from Liberty USO, SugarHouse Casino and the Pennsylvania Air National Guard.

Although it’s only June right now, Liberty USO will ship the care packages to local Pennsylvania and New Jersey National Guard troops deployed in Afghanistan, with the boxes set to arrive in July. Liberty USO designed these care packages to improve the quality of life for soldiers deployed overseas. Each package includes items to provide a moment’s rest from our soldiers’ duties.

Nine donor organizations each committed to collecting and packaging 100 care packages. All organizations also donated $1,000 each to cover the costs of shipping. A representative from all nine groups will receive a folded flag and coin at the event in recognition of their participation.
