Casino Kicks Off Football Season with Former Eagles Mike Quick and Harold Carmichael
PHILADELPHIA—Sept. 4, 2014—The Birds are back in town! Former Philadelphia Eagles wide receivers Mike Quick and Harold Carmichael will be at SugarHouse Casino on Saturday, Sept. 6 from 4—7 p.m. as part of Philly’s casino’s “Go Birds Pep Rally.” The retired stars will host the pep rally on the casino’s waterfront walkway to kick off football season, and will mix and mingle with fans throughout the evening.
A career-long Eagle, Quick was drafted in 1982 and led the team in receiving yards and touchdowns for five straight seasons. He earned Pro Bowl honors every year, and holds the record for longest touchdown pass in team history—99 yards.
Carmichael played 13 seasons with the Eagles and finished his career ranked sixth on the NFL’s all-time reception list. He is considered the best receiver in franchise history, and also one of the tallest, standing at 6’8”.
“As Philly’s hometown casino, SugarHouse is proud to have two of the team’s great Pro Bowlers here to help us kick off this season,” Wendy Hamilton, general manager of SugarHouse Casino, said. “We are fired up and hope everyone will come help us cheer on our Birds. E-A-G-L-E-S, go Eagles!”
Guests will have the chance to mix, mingle and meet Quick and Carmichael, and win several prizes—including Eagles tickets, signed memorabilia, free play and more. The pep rally will feature live music, Eagles cheers and $2 Bud Lights with the Bud Light Cheerleaders.
And, since no football party is complete without a little grilling, Boar’s Head will be hosting a special grill-off. To get the crowd pumped, the Ultimate Eagles Fan, Shaun Young, who has donned face paint and Eagles gear to every game since 1995, will be in attendance as well.
Following the home opener, SugarHouse will keep the football fun going all season long with great gaming and food and beverage specials. Win your way to the Super Bowl or other cash prizes through the $50,000 Fantasy Football Challenge. Guests can enter each week at a SugarHouse kiosk to earn weekly top prizes throughout the season.
Eagles fans can also refuel with delicious tailgate specials in The Refinery on Sundays during football season, as well as during every Eagles game. Some of the specials include game day favorites like mini buckets of wings, loaded fries, pork sliders and of course, the famous Philly cheesesteak—all for $5. Guests can enjoy $2 Bud Light drafts and receive a free souvenir glass.
