The $164 million SugarHouse expansion, designed by Cope Linder Architects; with construction management by Skanska USA Building, Inc.; and development management by Keating Consulting, LLC., continues and is on track for 2015 yearend opening. This expansion increases SugarHouse’s 108,000 square-foot facility to approximately 260,000 square feet, not including the new parking garage of roughly 600,000 square feet. New gaming areas will include 44 additional table games, 289 new slots and a 28-table poker room.
Topping off will include brief remarks from SugarHouse and community leaders and the ceremonial raising of the final beam to top the lantern, an architectural element atop the expansion. The beam will be raised, along with an evergreen tree, after it is dressed with a banner signed by SugarHouse Team Members. A long-standing construction tradition, the raising of an evergreen tree atop the final beam of the building symbolizes a safe construction site during the building process.
