Team Members Volunteer Their Time and Talents for Housing Repair

PITTSBURGH – Sept. 25, 2013 – Team Members from Rivers Casino will donate their time to help the Pittsburgh Project today, Sept. 25, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. More than 20 volunteer Team Members from the casino will assist with repairs and renovations on one of the organization’s housing dormitories.

As part of its yearlong community service outreach program, Rivers Casino will spend the day spackling and plastering walls, moving appliances and painting rooms throughout the living space.

“Our team members really enjoy the physical contribution and seeing firsthand the results of their work at the end of the day,” said Craig Clark, general manager of Rivers Casino. “We’re pleased to partner with the Pittsburgh Project to help restore this space.”

The Pittsburgh Project is a nonprofit community development organization with more than 25 years of experience in developing leaders and serving the city’s most vulnerable residents. The organization operates a series of afterschool and summer programs for 250 urban young people, deploys over 2,000 people annually to perform free home repairs for Pittsburgh’s elderly homeowners, and spearheads economic development and job training efforts.

Throughout the year, Rivers Casino’s ongoing community service outreach program has benefited neighborhoods and causes throughout the city. Most recently, Rivers volunteers helped to clear invasive plants and water trees in Frick Park. Earlier this year, the team repainted rooms at the Allegheny YMCA, packed boxes of food for the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and manned the phones during KDKA-AM’s Warmathon.

Opened in 2009, Rivers Casino has been named “Best Overall Gaming Resort” in Pennsylvania by Casino Player magazine, “Best Overall Casino” in Pennsylvania by Strictly Slots magazine and “Best Casino” by the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. The casino features nearly 3,000 slots, more than 100 table games, nine distinctive restaurants and bars, a riverside amphitheater, a multipurpose event space, live music performances, free parking, and multiple promotions and giveaways daily. Already, more than $300 million in jackpots have been awarded to players at Rivers Casino. For more information, visit
