Two Sweet Businesses Team Up to Offer a Dozen Free Doughnuts for a Dozen Months

SugarHouse-Krispy Kreme - Sugar Rush doughnut

PHILADELPHIA—June 3, 2014National Doughnut Day will be celebrated across the country on Friday, June 6, but here in Philly, Krispy Kreme and SugarHouse Casino are recognizing the holiday in a very special way by debuting a new confectionary treat—called the Sugar Rush doughnut. In addition, the pair will also offer one lucky casino guest a dozen free doughnuts for a dozen months.

The Sugar Rush doughnut is covered in red sugar, with a vanilla and chocolate drizzle on top and is filled with strawberry jelly. It will be available starting next week at select locations, including Jack’s Café at SugarHouse Casino and at the four local Krispy Kreme shops in Havertown, Bensalem, Northeast Philadelphia and Collingswood, N.J.

But, Philadelphians and casino guests can be the first people to get a taste of this new Sugar Rush doughnut on National Doughnut Day, before it’s available on Krispy Kreme menus. SugarHouse will hand out free samples of the new creation from 1—2 p.m. on June 6 at Jack’s—its café serving sandwiches and sweets 24/7.

Then, at 4 p.m. on June 6, one lucky SugarHouse guest will receive the treat of a lifetime—a dozen free Krispy Kreme doughnuts for a dozen months. The casino will offer a “hot seat” promotion in which one person actively playing at a slot machine will be randomly selected to receive one dozen Krispy Kreme doughnuts each month for a year, which can be redeemed at any of the four participating Krispy Kreme locations listed above.

Philly’s casino established a new partnership with Krispy Kreme last year and together, the two have continued to satisfy the sweet teeth of Philadelphians. The casino sells Krispy Kreme doughnuts daily at Jack’s; and SugarHouse’s Refinery restaurant has a Krispy Kreme bread pudding on the menu, which is made with glazed doughnuts, ice cream, fresh berries and a Jamison drizzle.

“SugarHouse was the perfect business for us to partner with locally to celebrate National Doughnut Day,” said Brian Zaslow, president and managing director of Dough Nuts for Doughnuts, LLC, local Krispy Kreme franchisee and local developers. “We’re looking forward to giving away a dozen free doughnuts every month for the next year, and to continuing this partnership with SugarHouse Casino.”
