Philly’s Casino and Guests Will Play for the Cure this October
PHILADELPHIA – Oct. 2, 2013 – SugarHouse will go pink this October with promotions that benefit Susan G. Komen Philadelphia. As a longtime partner, SugarHouse is proud to once again support the local affiliate.
Start off Breast Cancer Awareness Month by joining the national fight against the deadly disease by coming to SugarHouse to show your support. Guests that donate $10 to Susan G. Komen Philadelphia will receive $10 in free slot play, and their name will be added to the SugarHouse HOPE Wall. The HOPE Wall will be filled with pink ribbons, personalized with the names of guests who donate. It will serve as a giant symbol of support from the SugarHouse family – both employees and guests.
In addition, on Tuesday, Oct. 15, every hour one participant will be selected to pick a gift out of the SugarHouse prize bag to win their share of $10,000 in pink-colored gifts, ranging from electronics to apparel. If you’re the lucky participant selected and you’re showing your Breast Cancer Awareness pride by wearing pink, you’ll receive an extra $50 in free play.
“We’re happy to support our longtime friend, Susan G. Komen Philadelphia, an organization that works tirelessly to fund breast cancer research and education,” said Wendy Hamilton, general manager of SugarHouse Casino. “No one should have to battle a disease like this, but it’s reassuring to know groups such as Komen are fighting alongside them for a cure.”
SugarHouse’s participation in Breast Cancer Awareness month is part of its ongoing commitment to support important initiatives like Susan G. Komen. Each year, SugarHouse puts together a team of employees, family and friends to participate in the Komen Philadelphia Race for the Cure. Together, the group wears matching shirts, rallying behind the tagline, “Philly Loves a Cure,” which plays off the SugarHouse slogan, “Philly Loves a Winner.”
SugarHouse also has hosted the Komen Volunteer Victory Party for three consecutive years, which honors the volunteers who help celebrate the community’s victories over breast cancer, and recognizes the continuing journey forward. And, Philly’s casino has been a two-time recipient of the organization’s “Pink Heart” award.
