The “Hammer of Glory” will Travel Throughout Philly on the SugarHouse Bus

PHILADELPHIA—May 29, 2012— Philly Beer Week means hammer time for SugarHouse Casino. As the official transporter of the Philly Beer Week torch, the “Hammer of Glory,” SugarHouse will play an integral role in kicking-off the festivities that encompass the 10-day Philadelphia tradition, beginning on June 1.

Philly Beer Week, established in 2008, is the largest beer celebration of its kind in America. The week-long event highlights the region’s diverse beer scene, world class breweries, neighborhood taverns and the rich beer history of Philadelphia.

The casino will not only provide its fully-wrapped double-decker bus to transport the “Hammer of Glory” to Philadelphia’s most well-known bars, but SugarHouse will also serve as an official stop on the “Hammer of Glory” trail. SugarHouse General Manager Wendy Hamilton will carry the hammer from the Fox 29 studios to the casino, where guests will be able to take pictures with the SugarHouse Sweeties—SugarHouse’s team of cocktail servers and promoters—and the “Hammer of Glory” from 8:15—8:45 a.m.

“As Philly’s casino, we always enjoy a city-wide celebration,” said Hamilton. “We’re thrilled to be the ones who get to kick-off Beer Week, and we’ll be hosting some great events all week in collaboration.”

Guests are invited to hop aboard the SugarHouse bus with the Sweeties as it travels along the beer week stops. Ride-along guests are invited to park for free at the casino, where the bus will depart at 8:45 a.m. The hammer trail will conclude at the Independence Visitor’s Center for the opening ceremony, where guests can pick up the free South Philly Sugar Express back to the casino.

In association with Philly Beer Week, SugarHouse will hold craft brew related events from June 1—10. SugarHouse Beer Week specials include:

  • Spend $10, Get $25: Buy a $5 appetizer plate and a $5 beer paddle (featuring Yards SugarHouse Ale, Yards Brawler, Victory Summer Love and Stella Artois) and get $25 match play.
  • Stella Tap Takeover: Enjoy $3 Stella Artois drafts 6—8 p.m. every day
  • Summer Love with Victory’s Brewmaster: Enjoy free tastings and learn some brew knowledge with Victory’s Brewmaster on Friday, June 1 from 6—8 p.m.
