SUGARHOUSE EARNS SECOND CONSECUTIVE ‘TOP WORKPLACES’ RECOGNITION

Philly’s Casino Places in Top Five of Philadelphia Inquirer and Philadelphia Daily News Ranking

PHILADELPHIA — March 19, 2013 — SugarHouse’s 1,000-plus member team helped Philly’s casino earn the title of “Top Workplace” for the second year in a row, as reported in the annual survey published by The Philadelphia Inquirer and Philadelphia Daily News. The casino ranked fifth in the large company category — making SugarHouse the youngest organization to break the top 10 since Philly’s “Top Workplaces” rankings began.

SugarHouse opened its doors in September 2010, and with 1,102 employees is ranked number five out of 20 in the 2012 survey program. The large-company category is defined as a workplace with 500 or more employees.

To determine the rankings, team members at each company were surveyed and the results were analyzed by a third-party research firm, WorkplaceDynamics. SugarHouse Casino team members completed anonymous surveys that asked employees to be open and honest about their work environment, confidence in their managers and overall job satisfaction.

Some examples of team member feedback from the survey results include:

–       “Every day is exciting and I love being appreciated for my hard work.”

–       “There is an amazing culture established at SugarHouse. It is an environment of fun, respect, understanding, caring and all team members have an important voice about how things operate.”

–       “I feel appreciated and that I am not just a number. People actually ask for, and respect my opinion, we have a great team to work with and a fantastic GM.”

–       “I am impressed by how SugarHouse stands by all employees like a family.”

“We’ve known from the beginning that we have the best team in Philly,” said Wendy Hamilton, general manager of SugarHouse Casino. “I am grateful to them for their hard work every day and their support over these early years building a culture we are all proud to be part of. They make me feel very lucky. Woo-Hoo!”

This is SugarHouse’s fourth employee-voted workplace recognition in the short two and a half years it has been open. SugarHouse was also voted as a “Best Place to Work” in the 2011 and 2012 Philadelphia Business Journal rankings. The casino placed on top in 2012 with a “Gold” ranking in the extra-large company category.
