SUGARHOUSE EMPLOYEES HELP FEED PHILLY COMMUNITY THIS THANKSGIVING

Philly’s Casino’s Team Members Donate More than 150 Turkeys to Local Nonprofits

PHILADELPHIA—Nov. 19, 2012—SugarHouse Casino is pleased to announce that its team members have donated more than 150 turkeys today to those in need in the Philadelphia community. The turkeys will be hand delivered by SugarHouse employees across the city throughout the day.

As a way of thanking its more than 1,000 team members for their hard work and dedication every year, the SugarHouse leadership team donates turkeys to each employee prior to Thanksgiving.

Each team member has the option of not collecting his or her turkey so that it will instead be donated to a local organization. This year, 159 turkeys were given to ten community groups who provide meals to those in need during the holidays.

“Every year, I am more impressed at how the SugarHouse team maintains its commitment to the local community by donating all of these turkeys,” said Wendy Hamilton, general manager of SugarHouse Casino. “I am proud of them for making such a big impact on those who may not otherwise have a meal on Thanksgiving. I’m thankful for this amazing team.”

The recipients of SugarHouse’s turkeys this year included Elm Tree Post No. 88, Fishtown Action, the Fishtown Athletic Club, Hackett School, Holy Name of Jesus Church, GESU School, River of Life Philadelphia, St. Francis Inn, St. Laurentius School and St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church.

SugarHouse team members voted the casino as one of the “Best Places to Work” two consecutive years in the Philadelphia Business Journal ranking, which earned SugarHouse a gold recognition for 2012. Earlier this year, the team also ranked the casino as a “Top Workplace” in the Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News program.
