Also on Hand for “Poker Night in America”

PHILADELPHIA — April 15, 2015 — SugarHouse Casino will host its first-ever major poker tournament, poker superstar Phil Hellmuth, Jr. and hit television show “Poker Night in America,” all as part of the $100,000 Guaranteed Poker Showdown April 23-27, 2015. Hellmuth headlines the list of pros, including the women of “Ladies Night II,” who will get more than a taste of Philadelphia poker as the city’s own “Cheesesteak Kings” from Tony Luke’s, Geno’s and Pat’s will be part of the action.

Hellmuth, poker’s all-time World Series of Poker gold bracelet leader, is expected to play in the Poker Showdown, which will feature a $280 buy-in and six Day Ones to accommodate the anticipation of a large turnout. Affectionately known as the “Poker Brat,” Hellmuth will be available for an autograph session and participate in the “Poker Night in America” high-stakes cash games, which run April 26-28, 2015.

“I’m looking forward to spending time at SugarHouse in Philadelphia,” said Hellmuth, who will be making his third appearance on “Poker Night in America,” which airs Monday nights on the CBS Sports Network. “It will be great to play alongside the local players, as well as mixing it up in the cash games.”  Hellmuth will host an autograph session Friday, April 24 from 6—6:45 p.m.

A full house of poker’s most talented women will also be on hand for the taping of “Ladies Night II,” the wildly popular, ladies-only televised cash game. Philadelphia natives Jennifer Shahade and Beth Shak, along with New Jersey poker pro Jamie Kerstetter, are scheduled to play in the event. “Ladies Night II” poker play will take place Sunday, April 26 at 3 p.m.

Also invited to play in the cash games are the three kings of Philly cheesesteaks  – Tony Luke Jr. (Tony Luke’s), Frank Olivieri (Pat’s Steaks) and Geno Vento (Geno’s Steaks) will play against the pros. The poker will be live-streamed from start to finish with highlights shown on television during “Poker Night in America’s” Season 3, expected to air during the latter half of 2015. Poker with the “Cheesesteak Kings” will take place Monday, April 27 at 3 p.m.
