RIVERS CASINO PITTSBURGH MAKES $3.5 MILLION PAYMENT TO THE SPORTS & EXHIBITION AUTHORITY FOR PPG PAINTS ARENA
PITTSBURGH — April 3, 2023 — Rivers Casino Pittsburgh and the Sports & Exhibition Authority of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County (SEA) announced today that Rivers Casino has now paid $105 million toward construction of PPG Paints Arena.
Rivers Casino contributes $7.5 million annually to the SEA, with installments occurring in April and October each year. This week’s $3.5 million payment follows a $4 million installment made last October.
By 2038, Rivers Casino will have contributed a total of $225 million per agreement with the SEA for the arena’s construction, which was completed in 2010. Rivers Casino opened in August of 2009.
“Rivers Casino is proud of our ongoing partnership with the SEA,” said Bud Green, general manager at Rivers Casino Pittsburgh. “PPG Paints Arena is an integral part of the Pittsburgh landscape and provides a beautiful facility for the Penguins, concerts and more.”
Rivers Casino generates approximately $160 million annually for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Allegheny County and Pittsburgh, including the city’s economic development and tourism fund.
“We appreciate Rivers Casino’s continued support of PPG Paints Arena,” said Aaron Waller, executive director of the Sports & Exhibition Authority. “This exemplary community partnership continues to benefit the citizens of Allegheny County and beyond.”
