Rivers Casino Pittsburgh Visits The Woodlands on July 31 for Day of Service
Casino volunteers return to Wexford campus to support The Woodlands’ mission
PITTSBURGH — July 30, 2024 — Rivers Gives volunteers from Rivers Casino Pittsburgh are partnering with The Woodlands in Wexford once again on Wednesday, July 31, for a day of campus maintenance and outdoor projects.
From 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., casino Team Members will assist with various upkeep initiatives around The Woodlands’ facilities, such as landscaping and painting. This marks the second summer that The Woodlands has hosted a Rivers Gives crew.
The Woodlands provides children and adults with disabilities and chronic illnesses with a place where they can find the freedom and empowerment to experience programs that enrich their lives. Fully accessible and barrier-free facilities open new doors to safe, inclusive and engaging participant opportunities. The Woodlands team is committed to facilitating social, cultural, environmental and recreational growth through hands-on experiences.
“Programs at The Woodlands provide invaluable opportunities for individuals and their families,” said Dr. Rahmon Hart, director of community relations at Rivers Casino Pittsburgh. “The organization’s commitment to inclusivity and empowerment is transformative, and we’re always inspired by the great work they do.”
The Woodlands serves thousands of people annually and partners with multiple agencies and organizations to host camps, retreats and other programming.
Rivers Gives is the casino’s long-running community outreach program in which casino staffers report to work at a local nonprofit instead of the gaming floor. Last month, Rivers Gives volunteers worked with Allegheny CleanWays to help clean up the Ohio riverbanks.
“Support from the Rivers Gives team is greatly appreciated and helpful in preparing for our upcoming outdoor programs,” said Laura Thomas, assistant director of special events and corporate relations at The Woodlands. “Their enthusiasm never fails to provide a positive boost to our community.”
