VOLUNTEERED WITH NORTHSIDE COMMON MINISTRIES
PITTSBURGH — Jan. 18, 2023 — “Rivers Gives” volunteers from Rivers Casino Pittsburgh kicked off the new year by lending a helping hand to Northside Common Ministries. The Rivers Gives team supported the Northside Food Pantry’s local efforts to eradicate hunger and food insecurity by prepping produce for client distribution today, Wednesday, Jan. 18.
Northside Common Ministries is a non-sectarian, non-profit, community-based organization established in 1982 by a collaboration of 30 local churches to meet the increasing needs of the homeless population. At Northside Common Ministries, they are committed to building those bridges that connect neighbors in need to an improved quality of life, while tearing down the walls that keep the hungry and homeless from success.
“We enjoy working with Northside Common Ministries and supporting the amazing work they do,” said Dr. Rahmon Hart, director of community relations at Rivers Casino Pittsburgh. “It feels great to be able to assist those who face food insecurity and homelessness.”
“We are extremely grateful for the time and effort we receive from Dr. Rahmon Hart and his Rivers Gives team,” said Michael Moore, executive director of Northside Common Ministries.
Rivers Gives is the casino’s long-running community outreach program, in which casino Team Members report to work at a local nonprofit instead of the gaming floor. In December 2022, Rivers Gives volunteers worked with the Southwestern Veterans’ Center and many other organizations throughout last year.
