$120 million paid to date toward construction of PPG Paints Arena

Pittsburgh — April 1, 2025 — Rivers Casino Pittsburgh paid $3.1 million today toward the construction expense of PPG Paints Arena. The Sports & Exhibition Authority of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County (SEA) and the casino jointly announced that $120 million has now been funded to date.

Rivers Casino contributes $7.5 million annually to the SEA, with installments occurring in October and April each year. The next installment will be paid on Oct. 1, 2025.

By 2038, Rivers Casino will have contributed a total of $225 million per the agreement with the SEA for the arena’s construction, which was completed in 2010. Rivers Casino opened in August 2009.

“We’re proud to support one of Pittsburgh’s premier entertainment venues, home to the Pittsburgh Penguins, global headliners and the BetRivers Lounge,” said Bud Green, general manager of Rivers Casino. “PPG Paints Arena has helped solidify Western Pennsylvania as a destination market.”

Rivers Casino generates approximately $160 million annually for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Allegheny County and Pittsburgh, including the city’s economic development and tourism fund.

“In August 2025, PPG Paints Arena celebrates 15 years of serving Pittsburgh and Allegheny County as a dynamic regional attraction,” said Aaron Waller, executive director of the Sports & Exhibition Authority. “We applaud Rivers Casino for honoring its long-term commitment to sustaining this essential community asset.”
