The Commodores and The Spinners to Deliver ‘An Evening of Icons’ at Rivers Casino Pittsburgh's Event Center on Aug. 2
PITTSBURGH — June 6, 2024 — What’s easy like Sunday morning? The soulful melodies of The Commodores and The Spinners soon will be working their way back to you, babe.
The two quintessential ’70s R&B groups will unite for a historic joint concert on Friday, Aug. 2, at Rivers Casino Pittsburgh. Tickets to see The Commodores and The Spinners perform live at The Event Center are available now, starting at $39.
The Commodores
One of the greatest Motown and R&B/funk artists of all time, The Commodores have influenced artists both young and old across all genres with their classic songs. With a brand that’s bigger than ever, The Commodores continue to blaze trails all over the world.
In 1968, the group was formed while all the members were in college at Tuskegee Institute. After being discovered by Berry Gordy, The Commodores went on to sell over 60 million records for Motown. With hits like “Machine Gun” and “Sail On,” The Commodores became one of the most successful vocal groups of all time.
For over five decades, The Commodores have remained a force in the music industry. The Commodores aren’t just any group; they have staying power. Just like their hit song “Brick House,” The Commodores have created a foundation that just won’t budge.
The Spinners
Timeless in a way that few other acts can claim, The Spinners are one of the most iconic and enduring groups in R&B history. The quintet created and came to define the smooth sound of Philadelphia Soul, with universal appeal that has not waned over time—as evidenced most recently by the group’s induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2023.
For over six decades, The Spinners have remained perched atop the pop, R&B and adult contemporary charts with smash singles like “I’ll Be Around,” “Then Came You” and many more, earning six Grammy nominations, 18 total platinum and gold albums and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
A perennial fan favorite, The Spinners continue to perform to sold-out crowds at home and abroad while maintaining a loyal coterie of diehard aficionados. The Spinners have left an indelible impact in the annals of music history and, perhaps most importantly, on the hearts of millions of fans throughout the world.
“Having both The Commodores and The Spinners grace the Rivers Casino stage in a single night is more than any music lover could ask for,” said Shannon Redmond, vice president of marketing at Rivers Casino Pittsburgh. “We’re looking forward to experiencing their combined magic live in concert.”
